Rupert Cobbett - Peaceful Morning Soul Deep DM-776 (1976)
Another private press out of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Eight original tracks - plenty of breezy beats and nice fender rhodes. You know the score..!
If you like today's funky rhythms, but miss the sounds of legitimate jazz then relax and listen to Rupert Cobbett. Although there is a definate jazz "sound" to Cobbett's music the word doesn't begin to get into the soul of the man's genius. It is more an experience than a sound. It swings like a cool breeze on a hot Jamaican night then mellows to greet the sundrenched "peaceful morning". Lay back and let it sink into your soul.
(taken from the original liner notes)
Rupert Cobbett - keyboards; Bill Prince - horns; Arlin Strader - percussion; Gary Phillips - bass; Produced by Dave Chiodo.
1) Ain't Done Nothing
2) A Song
3) December 18th
4) Se Sau
5) Where Are You Now
6) Blues For Dave
7) There's No End
8) Peaceful Morning

thanks quimsy, some really nice stuff here, "Aint Done Nothing" and "December 18th" are the ones for me. I feel like I should have a cocktail party and put this and "The Baron" on :)
Hello, just found this blog - I have a few of the items listed (Larry Bright, Stanton Davis & Ambience are big favorites) so I'm looking forward to check out some of your other posts.
thanks Quimsy.
speacial lps as always from your golden blog.
thanks again
Hi. Thanks for this sweet little record.
Thanks for up it..i was very curious & the results are for me: boring the most boring album a haven listen to in the last 6+ monts.
Well, I guess that's all part of leading an anonymous lifestyle.
Nice album. Apart from the Rhodes songs "Aint Done Nothing" and "December 18th" (should I be surprised that these are Simon's favourites?) the straight jazz songs like "Blues for Dave" and "There's No end" are also fine. Not a bad track on this one.
Thanks.
once again, quimsy's comes correct!!
sweet soul sounds , many thanks
Great Stuff. Thanks
Downloading for the promise of some nice rhodes playing, thanks for sharing!

rapid share error
thx anyway
Good stuff--thanks Quimsy.
I have been searching all over for this! Major props for this. I appreciate it.
Bruno,
The file is fine. Sometimes rapidshare have temporary problems which can prevent you dl-ing the file. You might try waiting a bit and then retrying. If you are actually getting a rapidshare page then I think you should be OK eventually.
I don't know what ISP you're on - there used to be an issue with one or two of them and rapidshare (BT in the UK for example) but I thought this had been resolved - could be wrong though.
bruno costa is right.
the link is incomplete! at the end it
says /rup. it looks like the name rupert is cut off.
has someone the complete link,please.
Nice LP here, thanks for the up!
Hey ..thanks man...good obscure drop !
Pleasant indeed. I don't think this one will be falling into obscurity on my hard drive - and not just because my birthday is on December 18th.
Thanks.
This is nice, thanks for share, that's too bad that the link it's broken haha thanks for share.
This is a very good album I love the style this black man has not only because the way he sings but also because of his look, actually I'd like to get sunglasses like he's wearing in the cover album.
Hi
Would anyone have any info on Ruper Cobbet? Back ground, career ect.....
There's little or nothing about him on line. There is a facebook page. But there's not a whole lot on it. I think he died in 2005.
K
Just bought this on vinyl for .50 cents!! Glad to run across your dope digi-transfer. Thanks!
